Removing exhaust

If no one else will say it, I will; THIS IS F****** RIDICULOUS!!! On something that they recommend you remove every 500 miles to adjust the chain, they put bolts that seize in the turbo? Wonderful! I bought this expecting to ride it, not work on it. I'm beginning to wish I'd gone with the 850 Skidoo as planned, just couldn't go back to a two stroke.

Calm down Ricky! Its not the end of the world and stay away from sharp objects. Go to Doo Talk and read about the 850. lets see blown engines, fires, twitchy handling, junk factory shocks, RPM fade and the list goes on and on.

Once you never seize the bolts I can see there being a problem.

Who changed these to normal bolts?
If so what size and what grade?

Allen said he used 8.8. I just reused the stock ones with nickel anti seize.

After my next run this week I'm going to Be changing the oil and checking the chain. Then I'll see if the antiseiz works.

I have mine changed over to regular hex bolts, but thinking about hardened studs (That is if I can get the exhaust on the mounts and over the studs at the same time). This way I wouldn't care about the studs seizing themselves in the turbo housing.

go to lowes...get m8 x 1.25 pitch 20mm stainless.....unfortunately comes in bags of 5....get permatex nickel anti seize..2400 degree variety....apply liberally

when removing ...take your ime and use lots of heat...if it wot budge or stops...more heat....I suppose a good penetrating oil and sitting over night might be a good idea also if you can get it to weep in..

I've had mine off twice since changing bolts and putting nickel anti seize on them and once loose you could turn them out with your fingers. Solved the problem for now.

I've had bad luck with stainless bolts and screws. They are soft and snap easily and the worse part is you can't drill them out if they snap inside anything. I'm still thinking about drilling out the threads on the turbo and putting bolts nuts and washers. From what I can tell you can do that on 4 of them. This way even if you break them all you do is put new ones in.
I installed studs on

It's possible. I installed some studs. The stock exhaust was difficult to get on the studs and mounts together, had to fight it. Now the OSP exhaust went right on.

Except 2 are a pain in the #*$&@ to get to. I used 10.8 8 x 1.25 x 25 hex heads plus Nord Locks and anti-seize.
Agreed . Who would look at that and say "that's good" "you'll never need to take that off". It's kinda outrageous for sure.
I geusse I'm just saying we need to adapt to the machine like every other sled we bought. I sacrificed a torx and cut it off so I could use an 8mm gear wrench on it.

I switched over to stainless hex bolts. I have the TD Super Quiet exhaust and can only get 5 of the bolts in, doesn't seem to be an issue. With the angle of the pipe bend I'm not sure even a short stud and nut would work on that one, although I might try that.

Evo stage 3. Sounds like a sport bike. Have OSP weights and loaded 3-3-2-0 was almost 9600. Now 3-3-3-0 and 9350 or so. Only had some heavy wet loose snow to try it before we lost all of it. Going to head to the UP next week for a proper test.
