TD Max Pump 17 Issues

I'm not running 3 bar map sensor and have been using 8jp factory belts.

Right now at a crossroads as I'm waiting for the flasher that Ben so graciously sent me to assist with diagnostics.....thanks Ben!!

Also waiting for Beermans boost leak tester which SideHogger mailed out today....thanks Beerman/Sidehogger!!

In the interim, I've installed a new set of plugs gapped at .20, pulled clutches apart, cleaned and checked everything and everything appears up to snuff.

Checked all hoses, vacuum lines, turbo bolts, wastegate, and again couldnt find anything out of the ordinary. My impatience got the best of me and I fabricated a 5 minute boost tester. Although crude and ad hoc in design, it would at least allow me to find a blatant leak if one exists. (Ex. Hole in intercooler and/or busted hose i couldnt see with naked eye.) At any rate, my tester would take air until the duck tape would blow. Although I did not have a gauge, I could see all the hoses swell as I added air until the duck tape would fail. I would estimate possibly 15-20 pounds before failure and unfortunately no leak detected, albeit testing conducted with an inferior design!!! Lol. So.....if a leak exists it is going to be a small one imo.

At this point, everything is on pause until I get some diagnostic tools. Thank you everyone for your assistance and special thanks to Tom, Beerman and Ben at TD!

I'm currently at a stand still as I wait for the Flasher TD sent to conduct further diagnostics. Was going to wait until all testing complete before posting in hopes of keeping this post short and concise, but since DMC Turbo asked, I decided to post my latest updates in hopes of any additional input:

As per Ben at TD a new set of plugs have been installed and gapped at .20. I also drove a few towns over and bought 93 octane fuel from a different vendor to rule out fuel issues. This vendor caters to a lot of snowmobile traffic and their pump is only 93 octane, hence nothing else can get mixed in. Once I go out and test, my plans are to run this fuel with half a can of torco. This should bring it up to 97 octane and be plenty high.

Friday night I received the Beerman Boost Tester mailed to me from Sidehogger. (Thanks Beerman/Sidehogger) I hooked it up and conducted several tests. My results are as follows:

During all tests, I pressurized the system until the BOV would trip, which was at exactly 21 lbs of pressure. Once the BOV would trip, I stopped introducing air and noted that the boost pressure would slowly bleed out of the airbox. (All tests were conducted with engine at TDC.) Hence, in order to compare the rate of boost leak I utilized a stop watch and timed the decline in boost pressure in 5 lb intervals. Here are my results:

From 20lbs to 15lbs took approximately 20 seconds.
From 15lbs to 10lbs took approximately 56 seconds.
From 10lbs to 5lbs took approximately 1:57.

I reversed the BOV and naturally the system would hold pressure longer. Here are the results with BOV reversed:

20lbs to 15lbs took approximately 25 seconds.
15 lbs to 10lbs took approximately 1:08.
10lbs to 5lbs took approximately 2:51.

I compared my results to other people online (TD Video/Beerman Video) and from what I gather my sled appears to be normal, hence I'm thinking I do not have a boost leak and that my issue lies elsewhere.

I have an aftermarket Turbosmart BOV on order, but it has not arrived as of yet. Once it arrives I will conduct the test one more time and compare results.

Lastly, I anticipate receiving the Flasher from TD sometime this week and hopefully this will provide the answer I'm looking for.

I'm open to any thoughts and/or input. Thank you everyone.

They loaded max which it was clutched for... And they were like holy crap... One guy who was formerly on here claims he's coming home...

Have you tried a set of Dalton DTAY-2 weights on Max 17 yet or are you still running HH? I recall speaking with you at the beginning of the winter stating I could not turn the DTAY-2s and you were a little perplexed. In hindsight, I was unaware I had this issue, but still curious if anyone else can spin DTAY-2s?

Dtay - 2 work but it's at the limit. Sled has to be on point. You need slightly stiffer primary spring to run that.

DTYA-1's are working well for me on max 17. Now if I could just decrease belt heat.

Running the DTYA1's too, The curve works so well with tuned Winders. Im glad im back to them now, and can see why Ben has recommended the dalton weights from the get-go.

The DTYA1's do well to cover 14psi up to 17psi or so. DTYA2s are gonna end up abit heavy if you want to back off the jukebox to a lesser tune for trail riding ect. 78g-80 grams seems to be a good compromise for this range of PSI.

I like the 70's for pt and the dtay-1's for max....both with a bit more helix...and if weather cooperated would like to try a much steeper start angle...

How much weight in the dtay-1s on Max?
 
I ran with a 37 and that Thunder spring and an xs belt which pulls Rpms down...I think I was empty... For the real testing I switched to the heavy hitters...
