Barn of Parts Frozen Roll Over Valve Solution

You guys ever open the oil fill cap on your car or truck if driven short distances in cold? The white slime is there too. Mine has 210000mi on it and hasnt hurt anything yet.

I seen in apost on here that a member installed one on his sled and it worked well.My only concern would be that if rolled over that the catch can beening vented would loose what it caught.
Mine has a 50 micron filter to keep the oil out if rolled, i'll keep you posted when/if i roll her over and i vented it too the air filter so i can keep an eye on how its working

Has anyone experienced freezing when riding?

The easiest thing to do is to loosen the oil fill cap while starting and warming up.

Worst is that you have to remove the side cover every time...
:drink:
So perhaps the best solution would be a bypass valve (or a valve directly to atmosphere) on the hose from the oil tank that can be opened and closed from the driver's seat in a simple and flexible way. Without having to remove any side covers.

Open the new valve when cold starting. 10 min later you close and go..

Travis from BOP has a sensor that screws in where the oil cap is an sounds the backup beeper if frozen, this would tell you to shut the sled off and do what you said, thinking about getting one since mine froze last winter, now i had the heated rov installed under warranty this year but thinking the hose from the tank could still freeze

It's usually the hose that does freeze not the actually ROV

My dealer would not cover the heated valve, pissed me off

Saw this post while looking for options to bypassing the ROV. Did the alarm modification ever get worked out? Any other options?

The alarm concept was ditched, as it really doesn't solve the issue. Post 65 shows my latest logic. Just have not gotten parts to production yet.

Travis, I get what you trying to do. On my Nytro XTX, I installed a push turbo where I use that valve cover breather as a return oil line from the turbo. For the oil tank, the Nytros have breather hose off the oil tank that leaks oil on belly pan after a rough ride so I rerouted it much higher with a longer hose which solved that oil leak issue (I could add an aftermarket ROV but choose not to). So what you are doing makes perfect sense and will work. When can I purchase your fix? As far as the AC/SW freezing ROV, its junk and your fix solved that issue. Kudos to you.

Is this not an issue with MY 20 and newer? What changed?
