They need some serious checking as they move and heat cycle. Those clamps are pesky. I have been able to get 2-3 turns in the clamp screws each preseason. Weather they streach or loose. Or everything shrinks under it idk lolI tightened all clamps and checked everything when it was new but didn’t check for boost leaks. I didn’t give him any excuses because on that day his sled was faster, whether it’s my fault or not. I have a 23 SRX all stock except I switched to a 1.5 rip saw with 144 studs using a xs belt with 2200 miles on it. I weigh 100 lbs more than the boost rider and I never changed anything with the clutching like I should have. It was also 40* that day on a trail with 4-6” mash potatoes on top. I would pull him mid range and he would reel me in and go by on top end. On good hard pack I think I would have gotten him, but like I said, on that day in those conditions he had the faster sled.
By no means should he have gone by on top end, the gas powered leaf blowers only have a good launch and 20-40mph in its favor. When traction is equal the 4 stroke torque will yank them from a dig and they will give a nudge as it hits powerband then we keep pulling till we meet Jesus and they are flatlined in a cloud of dust.

fxnytrortxkid, funny....I was playing with sled the past week. Tightened all clamps. Just for giggles the following day I found myself giving the three plenum clamps a nudge. At least a half turn or more. The following day the same thing, and another day after that. I don't know exactly how that works, but I figured they were done for.
The 1.5 track is killing your top end especially if you didnt clutch for it. 5 to 10 mph slower than the 1" track without a tune.I tightened all clamps and checked everything when it was new but didn’t check for boost leaks. Didn’t this particular member post a video of said race on Youtube? One story that sticks in my head, an ex member (winder guy) sold his to his buddy and bought a new 900r. His claims are the winder could not keep up with the 900r. I sure wish I was riding the 998 in that particular scenario.
My Dad has a Sidewinder XTX with the 1.6 Cobra with I-Grips. I will be running a 900R this season with a 146” 1.6 Ice Cobra. Both sleds have uncoupled skids. Both sleds bone stock. If we get a chance to run them, I will be sure to post the results.

Lol ..no, not him. You're referring to the boost that ran 3 winders, I posted last year.Didn’t this particular member post a video of said race on Youtube?

This was another member, whom experienced all the bad the winder could deliver. He had enough.
Sold it to his buddy, bought a 900r and lived happily ever after.
Yes, post pics when you get it.
My buddy bought a Mach, just haven't been able to get with him. Now I'm tuned, kinda sucks.

Plus the fact he switched to a XS belt he could be WAY down in RPM's if still using stock clutching without a tune.

Definitely! I wonder how the whole thing works?its gonna be a fun sled
I'm just assuming it sprays meth to keep ambient temperature happy. So it automatically knows to spray more when given a higher load.
I'm not here to pick it apart I actually think it's crazy cool that, that type of technology now exists in the snowmobiling world.
225 on a tune shouldn't be a big deal at all. And spraying meth on demand will keep things in check.
Again it's definitely something to watch.

And its worth remembering, when the bean counters at Polaris and Ski Doo ask the engineers 'WHY??'Definitely! I wonder how the whole thing works?

The honest reply has to be 'Yamaha made us do it'.

All in all, I'm very happy to see the techno development climb so high, due to the 998t that's been dominating for years.
Still, doesn't make me want one. Just lights the fire....

The sled is showing massive potential. I just wouldn't want to be around it if something were to happen. Poor little 2s will get twisted up for sure. Someone better start putting together long blocks to keep in stock. That last comment I'm being 100 on....
