Excell Cold Air Intake and Exhaust

I was thinking the same thing. I did the firewall on my truck with an adhesive reflective matting that was relatively flexible

Why would you want to put heat tape on your airbox? Or are you guys talking about the side near the exhaust to help deflect the heat away? I will be installing my excell kit this weekend, just waiting for the ups guy to show up today!!

Under the radiator for starters, but I'd guess the entire compartment is plenty warm. Then again plastic does not conduct heat exceptionally well either.

You guys that installed the exhaust did you use high temp silicone like they said to in the instructions at the muffler and mid pipe? And if so what temp did you use?
Thanks

No, I haven't put any high temp silicone on since I have been using and re-using MuffinWorks copper gasket :)

Reminds me of the old Kawi free air copper head gaskets. Heat till they glow and drop in a pan of water. I didn't know a whole lot about what I was doing back then, but it was fun to do.

Ya I ordered the copper exhaust gasket to, so I wont add silicone to that, in the instructions it says this about adding high temp silicone to exhaust inlet. I have never added high temp silicone to any of my exhaust, maybe its to prevent leaks?

11) Apply high temp silicone around exhaust inlet and assemble mid pipe

My buddy uses it on his old AC muffler since it is so old and warped. It works, he has no leaks.

You
I used it but I dont have a O2 sensor.

You used it like they said in the instructions to put some silicone in the muffler outlet then put the midpipe in? Won't it be hard to remove the muffler from the mid pipe later on? I guess they want you to do that so there isn't a leak but I haven't ever done it with my other sled exhaust.

Riding today temp was 4 degrees F intake temps were 65 going across lake. Totally stock doing break in.

That's a good idea TD forgot about that stuff. I used to use it on the old 250r head gasket. Always kept it sealed well.
