Issue on Sidewinder... need some help or ideas.

So to me the consensus is that PERF knock protection does not work. Someone correct me if I am wrong here, but TD and Hurricane use the GAP Knock Protection and I dont believe PERF does, correct? If it had bad octane, then the knock protection should save the motor!

Being that we are a Precision Dealer, I will chime in.....

Precision tunes (except for their "R" tunes) use the stock air intake. Putting on a cold air intake is definitely prohibited with Precision tunes and we will not sell a Precision tune to someone who has a cold air intake. The Precision "R" tunes are sold with only their cold air intake....nobody else's cold air intake.

Our Precision EFI bundle tunes reads a max of 17 psi and that is what the dash flash reads from the ECU. Aftermarket boost gauges may read more and have run into that issue ourselves. Our Precision tuned sled runs stock airbox and a muffler that is straight through with no issues.

Out of all the tunes Thunder Products Clutching has done, we have had zero engine issues. 4 and 2 stroke flashes.

We have had issues with the SRX dash flash screwing with the Electronic shock package (IQS ECS), where it loses features....but they are working on a fix.

This is the exact reason I went with the Power Trail with CAI & 3" Super Quiet Muffler. My boost peaks at about 16.0-16.1 psi and settles sometimes to 15.8psi.
This is where I am leaning for my next sled.. How is the 3" super quiet? Sound levels?

Mixing components from different company's is a big no no.. I could see that

The knock alert works on the sleds we have flashed.

1 sled (who is a member here) had knock alert issues that were caused by his track being too loose while running studs. So it works, but may not have worked on @MrSled friend sled.

I'm sure all the tuners have had some issues, but it seems we are hearing more and more about issues with Precision? Pardon the pun, but where's there's smoke there's fire.

The knock protection doesn't always save motors, if it is just "slight" knock over time, it can still cause damage, it depends on the sensitivity level of the knock sensor. I have fixed numerous tune motors, plus some guys will say "Well there was a light on the dash flashing, but I just kept driving", not saying anyone posting here is saying that, but some guys could bust an anvil!

Honestly if you want just pump gas and go, stay at a 250 or lower tune. Anytime you go over 250 hp you're at a higher risk for damage to occur.

Not loud at all, IMO. I was a little worried that it would be too loud and everyone that has heard it says that it is surprising how quiet it is for being 3". It is definitely quieter than a 3" Sandale. Another guy in our riding group has one of those.

It really comes down to...run the correct components for what the tune was designed for, and I NEVER trust pump gas with bigger Hp tunes. I either mix race fuel, or carry octane booster at fill ups. I don't care what sunshine someone is trying to blow up my @$$ how good their tune is, I know fuel in N. WI isn't the best. If mixing and/or booster isn't available, either lower the power, or just stay out of wfo.

I dont there stock deto protection, I could be wrong???

Not using the stock knock sensor? Really?

I can't see that. More like these aftermarket tunes are ignoring detonation until it's severe, and by then it's too late.

Maybe I'm wrong, and if I am, then that also tells me they are using a sensor that's not very sensitive at all.

;)!ALWAYS carry octane boost.. ALWAYS drop 3-4 ounces in every fill up.. Just cheap insurance . M2S

AND the guys thumb when it/IF flashes
