Mach Z not stock king of the lake.

So what if cat drops Yamaha and they go to Polaris
Suzuki brings a new beast to the catalyst
Just throwing it out there
Maybe
Who knows

He has not run miles on this chassis with 300hp.
Just running down the drag strip doesn't tell me if the chassis will hold up thru the rough trails and 300hp all day long.
The sidewinder chassis has enough issues on its own. Thank god for the aftermarket!
Clutches/rollers, driveshaft, charge tubes, TB boots, gear bushings, chain case in general, etc… just to name a few issues!
Regardless, Yamaha/Cat put out a good product.

So what’s more impressive?
8 years of refinement or 2 months out to catch it
The 1100 is the real king of the lake anyway
The 998 is pump gas king without motor touched
I think…..
i think what really is impressive truthfully is the reliability in the end... big hp, pump gaz and many years of service its a hard package to beat

Cat hasn’t done much of anything in the last 5 years.
Pretty disappointing to see them fall off the radar!
I don’t think “snow” is their focus

The 998 has been good and the procross is a great chassis
No denying it
I agree see n blue and that’s why I have the boost
It’s a new challenge
I think the catalyst is the best to come yet
Matrix is great also and I haven’t been on doos but people love them too
I wish you could throw all 3 together and make one

I’d love a Matryx with a 998. My Sidewinder has been a good sled, but after 5 seasons and almost 7,000 miles, I am ready to try something new. I don’t want a 2 stroke, so my options are 900R or another 998 Yamacat. Probably going to try the 900R just to shake things up for a few years.

Yamaha and Cat just signed a new deal.

It was Suzuki that told Cat several years ago they will no longer build any new designed engines for Cat or the snowmobile industry. That’s why they built the 2s plant in St Cloud and also connected with Yamaha for 4s engines.

This Thread is a mess!
It started with Mach Z info that is now redundant, and has progressed to the Polaris boost.
LOL
As we all know you are nobody unless people are talking about you.
The 998 Turbo has been and still is an industry game changer and I believe there has never been another engine package/sled in the history of sledding that has had a bigger or lasting impact on the high performance sled industry as the 998 has. Period! The competition is just starting to catch up to the 998sperformance and yes they may exceed it in stock form but they are doing it with less costly, less reliable , and limited two stroke development.
I honestly applaud the manufactures response especially the BRP MXZ 850 Turbo, Water Meth, Shot Start, Premium shocks, Launch control, 2 stroke!
Seriously...this is what the competition had to do years after Yamaha released the 998 Turbo to be in the same league...Crazy!
I have been in the sledding word since 1964..7 decades!...I love it.

I think Doo has really come to the game with a great product!
Over promised and under delivered which is sad for the consumer but their engineering is phenomenal!
The aftermarket companies are staying alive because of these new machines

I agree with this 100 percent
The performance on pump gas from the 998 has been superior and other oems should’ve stepped up years ago
I never thought Polaris would bring something fast again with all their misses. I like what skidoo is doing as well.

The Boost was interesting for sure to me but not a magnet to purchase, but I have to admit the 850R doo has really hit home with me to the point I almost ordered one. Crazy as I never thought I would be interested in a new two stroke ever again and I have never owned a Doo but common sense took over and I am staying with my SW for another season at least.

I knew all along there would be plenty of performance to be had with these 2s turbos. But as we all know there’s no argument on the longevity of the engines when it comes to a 2s vs a 4s whether it has a turbo or not.

My good friend who is a die hard Yamaha guy and also still a two stroke guy. Well as we know Yamaha hasn’t made a 2s for years. He has one SRX with 25,000 miles, the other just turned 10k miles and a Viper S with just under 5k miles. All three are now down and he’s been very diligent on maintenance being he’s a retired machinist. I’ve been working on him to go 4s and maybe he finally will.

The 10,000 mile SRX just went down yesterday and he was towed home by an 850 Doo with 11,000 miles on it, go figure on that one?
