Mach Z not stock king of the lake.

On Saturday we rode down to horseshoe lake near perry sound , they had radar runs there 1320 ft . My totally stock 23 srx was 102 , no studs snow covered lake , the boost I ride with 96 studs and titanium muffler ran 102 also . We also raced down the lake the boost pull out a length , then the srx slowly goes by with a faster top end . Not bad for 8 year old technology, & kind of embarrassing for the other manufacturers as this sled will go down as the most dominant sled ever .

BOOST is Faster yes
Quicker.....about same
Studs, rider weight all factor in
Have you had a chance to run your 900R against other 900R sleds like an XRS or Mach? This thread was originally about the Mach. I have heard multiple reports of slow Machs but I know they are quite a bit heavier than your adrenaline. I wasn’t sure if the weight was a factor on snow, or if it was nothing more than a number on paper.

There’s one guy on here that knows how to make a 998 go and I think you know who it is. He has done his homework.
Obviously Mike's credentials as well as his numerous helpful posts on the 998 speak for themselves but there are a few other people on the Sidewinder Forum that can and have put together some impressive packages.
We are fortunate to be able to tap into all this knowledge.

OK
The OCD boy has the results & some videos!
I just don't know how to post them

BUT I can tell you this:

STOCK to STOCK
Boost out front then Winder reels him in and goes by
UNLESS I'm on it

Let me explain

I ran 1200 miles this past week against a BOOST, my old ECOTRTAIL Winder, a stock 21 Winder & a crap load of assorted 850's
The BIG RACE was on an abandoned airport in Limestone Maine
We ran them about 2 miles
Kinda warm out so almost mushy
These Little Rock-Em-Sock-Em races went on ALL week on trails with same results

The Players:
My 900R with CUDNEY clutch kit, Ice Attack track, 174 pounds (I ate like crap all week so cut me some slack)
2021 Sidewinder with 250-260 pound rider. 144 studs
2017 Sidewinder ECOBOOST with 96 studs & 185 pound rider
BOOST with 250-260 pound rider with 96 studs

Me & BOOST always out front with me ahead by 4 sleds ahead of him & I stay there.
BOOST can't catch me, but I also weigh about 80 pounds less plus I get LOW, real LOW
Winders a few more in back of BOOST
We just pull them on the bottom & mid on EVERY hit even going 20 to 60 mph roll ons.
21 Winder catches me about a mile & 1.5 he's by me.
We even ran others & these were the results...............just the plain truth
BOOST is lighter & spools quicker. So it pulls ahead just like mine did last year stock.
JUST the FACTS of LIFE
Then the big 998 gets angry and struts on by!

My old Winder has a Winey rider that has every excuse in the book so I'm not sure what his problem was although at the end of 2 miles he went by me faster then the other Winder did. I gps'd that sled at 122 years earlier.
He hit a bump, sled twisted, his Tampon got loose, he didn't Poop in the morning.
I should have grabbed it from him but he blew a belt one run then lost his coolant later so I'm glad I didn't

Back to the story at hand

ALL WEEK we trolled others to find out what this BOOST was made of
I don't think it's quicker then a NA 850 just pulls more on top
AND when we swap i will outrun my 900, of course that's a 160 pound swing

Turns out that SALAD is the BEST speed you can buy!!!!
I'd get a second set of eyes to look at the 2017 winder here with stage one tune. Clearly that should be the fastest sled in this bunch. It can't beat another stock winder with heavier rider....?

how is the stock clutching in a winder?
Boost is garbage and Tcat also has room for improvement

It feels kind of soft on bottom end but overall it’s clutched well from the factory. When mine was stock (Stx Dx) with the 137” 1.6” Cobra and no studs my friend had a new Assault 850. On snow pack he would get me out of the hole a good 4 lengths or so but by 300-400 feet I was side by side and a couple hundred feet past that I was walking away from him. Both stock with no studs, as we know the 137 ProCross sleds don’t transfer well off the line so I was impressed how fast it made those sled lengths up that he spotted me.

Would you think 3-4 sleds could be picked up on stock clutching
Drag race
That’s what I think on tcat
It’s from the dig mostly and also doesn’t loose the secondary on the big end
I think the other thing is gearing is better in sidewinder stock
1.80 range is good for us 1000 ft and less in snow
In the country they probably run 1.5 lol

Not sure but I was told by a good informant there wasn’t a whole lot to be gained.

Another friend tried a clutch kit (not sure who’s) on his stock Winder and it didn’t seem to do anything over the stock setup as far as performance goes. In fact I thought he went backwards.

In the county we run in the high 1.6 range.... or maybe that's why I'm getting beat on top. Need more gear! :p
