I’ll mount it right next to it. Thanks.

Mount it like Yamaha did so that when the bearing fails they profit from the sale of a sensor......

Finding all kinds of goodies. I was going through all the steering parts and forgot I had ordered a Titanium bolt for the steering post pivot tube.
3.49 lbs for the steering post, pivot tube, straps and all hardware.
I’ve been through pretty much all my parts and notes now. I think I am caught up.

Had to grind away at the 1/2” square tube for the clutch sheave to clear when it’s open.
Onto the speed sensor. Got lucky and it worked out to bolt it to the bearing housing. Drilled and tapped 6mm x1.00 holes and made some hole reducer/spacers on the lathe. I might get some aluminum bolts later on.

Going back over it and grinding down any brackets that can be smaller. I didn’t leave much but every ounce counts.
Currently sits at 34.4 lbs. There’s a lot I would do different in the tube layout if I built another frame. If I changed it now it would be 10 years before it gets done so I’m just going to suck it up and leave it as is. Few shots of the frame.
Going to work on running board traction next, have 42 screws that need to be tack welded.

Glad to see this back up again. I understand the kids and priority thing its been a struggle coming to grips that normal maintenance takes longer then when I used to add a turbo, custom suspension, new track, custom IC, and a stand alone Motec ECU.
I bought a 2012 CMX sled and was going to do a ultralight build with a turbo Apex motor I have laying around. Not sure yet, my dreams may be bigger then my time watch haha

That would be the perfect chassis to put an Apex motor in, I would love to see a build thread on it even if it’s slow.

I totally understand what you are saying. I had plans to build a turbo nypro and have most of the stuff to do it but gave up that project and bought a turbo viper done up to the nines and am riding the he’ll out of it this season. Seems I barely have time to fix the iron I have anymore. Hard to believe I found the time to build the yamalaris 4 years ago.Glad to see this back up again. We'll see, I have almost everything I need too. Doing a LS7 rx7 with 8HP trans this summer, maybe after that. That would be the perfect chassis to put an Apex motor in, I would love to see a build thread on it even if it’s slow.

Got the dust covered rear suspension down off the shelf. I still have not have test fit the suspension. I have to narrow the rear shaft and grind down the front arm to fit the 15-9/16 tunnel width on the tube frame. I want to get the rear and front suspension installed and see what it looks like before committing to sandblasting and painting. I keep staring at the frame thinking there has to be a way to build the back half of a tube chassis with less tubing.
Hefty 42.4 lbs.

First off, how do I get rid of all the pop up ads? They are worse than any other forum I visit, makes posting almost impossible.
I’m still using the small hobby lathe. Haven’t had a chance to upgrade yet so still have to get creative with some of the longer parts. The shaft was 15-25/32 wide and needed to be 15-9/16 so I took 0.11” off each side.
The front arm will be a little more difficult. I need to grind about 0.100” off each side.

I’m wanting to build a custom tunnel where I use plate off the bulkhead instead of tube, and then reinforce with carbon fiber sheets. The plate would pick up the bulkhead and the front and rear suspension mounting points, but be very thin in between. Right now I’m at 13 pounds, I feel even that’s too heavy.

Tube is a lot of work for sure, it’s way easier to get holes aligned and laid out on flat sheet.
