Put on 100 miles today in 1 to 2 feet of powder wih a 6" hard crust base. Ran with my buddy who took my new 900 ace turbo and we swapped back and forth trying each sled. Some fun comparisons:
SRX ran out of fuel at 76 miles and Doo ran out at 91 miles. Both sleds broke trail all day as we ran side by side on a woods road.
SRX is like a boat. Once it is up on plane it drives by the Doo. SRX in the powder is 5 to 8mph faster than the Doo.
In out tracks on the way back we managed 103mph on the SRX and 99mph on the Doo.
Of note is both sleds are bone stock and when we left the 900t had 0 miles on it and SRX had 101miles on the clock. Both are nice sleds but are distinctly different for sure!
More comparisons to come...

Which 1 was more fun to drive?

I like the planted feel of the SRX and the power so I will like it better for fast trail riding where as the 900 will be better in the rough and is more lively off trail as it will carry the ski's and transfer a lot better.Which 1 was more fun to drive?

Brian,
Those GPS speeds or Speedo?
How do you get any traction at all with that 1" under the SRX? We've put a 1" track in them hoping for more speed and they only last one week before going back to a 1.25" min. with the lack of traction. The 1" just won't grab ahold of anything. You going got keep that 1" track?

I thought my doo would shine in the powder but my winder went up on plane like a boat in 2' of power and drove by the doo up and down long sweeping hills. I have a 1.25 and a Storm 1.5 to put on it as I like the storm on my winder last year but thought I would try the 1" for fun and so far I am surprised with it. From a holeshot on groomed trail I am sure it will trench and go nowhere but I cant believe how it top ends in the powder.

Thanks for the early review. I prefer this to most magazine editors.Put on 100 miles today in 1 to 2 feet of powder wih a 6" hard crust base. Ran with my buddy who took my new 900 ace turbo and we swapped back and forth trying each sled. Some fun comparisons:

Does the Doo have a bigger fuel tank?

Little 900t is gonna be stronger then many think. Nice work and thanks for comparo....Nice to see the 1" actually goes somewhere in pow....lol
Most important question tho....which one is super sexy looking?? LOL
Just can't bring myself to like that G4 look, im trying too....just way too mechanical looking, and zero flow/sex appeal.

Thanks Brian for the information. I was going to try a winder but 15 miles difference in fuel range is quite a bit. I know the SRX sits lower but Also notice difference in how they sit in the snow. Slower woods non grommed trails would work in the 90oT favour as it looks like it carries better.

998 gets far better MPG once tuned....One thing I noticed after my tune. I would be better then my buds assault by 6-8 bucks everytime we filled mile for mile. Thanks Brian for the information. Makes a new purchase decision much easier. I was going to try a winder but 15 miles difference in fuel range is too much for me to switch from BRP. It would be a long walk and where you were today is where I travel all the time and I would have to carry to much fuel for the difference in power. Looks like one pic taken at Entrance to Slacks lake road ? I know the SRX sits lower but Also notice difference in how they sit in the snow. Slower woods non grommed trails would work in the 90oT favour as it looks like it carries better.
900t is a small engine, iTC and smaller turbo....it surely will be a miser.

I don't think the 900t has anything to lose against the Winder. Nobody in their right mind would give the little Doo a chance but it looks like it will hang some with a stock Winder. I'm surprised a 900t with zero miles pulled 99 and the SRX with over 100 miles was only 4mph faster. I really thought the Winder would be in another time zone compared to the Doo.I almost didnt click on this post to avoid huge jealousy! WOW! Nice and that 900 sounds to be a underdog. Tracks on both?
There are some mixed reviews on the 900 throttle but there are too many conflicting reports to be conclusive.
There is no doubt in my mind the Winder will out perform the Doo but I think trail riding they will be close under 100 mph.
My 900's haven't come in yet but when they do I will report my impressions here as long as others don't mind.
I really loved my Winder and I kept it in the family so I will still be riding it every now and then. I can't even say anything bad about it because it treated me well. Had I kept it I may have been tempted to boost it and I just didn't want to go down that road.
As far as the looks go the Winder is the sexiest looking sled on snow. That being said the 900t in the G4 definitely looks like a sled with an attitude. I actually like the look of it even though its not a sexy look.
Yup but there is a reason I asked what tracks were on these sleds. Cripes looks like the SRX was pushing powder with a 1"track! Not really the Enviroment it was designed for but I agree The Doo did well either way. I guess it will come down to whether the masses are ready to accept a Turbo Sled that is not gunning for Top Dog. They have in cars and heck even gas trucks. Never thought I would see the day a 4 cylinder Turbo Gas was in a full size truck. They need to work on convincing me but cant argue with the mass acceptance and even enthusiasm for Turbos everywhere. I am sure it would kick a Vipers #*$&@ stock and really thats all it needs to do.I don't think the 900t has anything to lose against the Winder. I don't think a turbo sled has to be a top dog sled. There are many benefits using a turbo even in a lower hp class. The old Cat 120 hp turbo sled they had was loved by many and some of my friends who had them still miss them.
When you own a sled like the Sidewinder everyone thinks you should be the fastest thing on snow and at times in certain conditions you may end up chasing tail lights. You have nothing to gain but everything to lose when you are top dog. That's why I said the little 900t has nothing to lose.

Yup I agree. Kid bought a Civic Turbo. 1500cc Turbo. Really nice car as long as it lasts. I am coming around. Growing up in the 80's and working on those Turbos gave me a bad taste. Always thought they only belonged on Diesels or Porsche's. About ready to admit I was wrong. Almost. My Phazer has 23000mi last I looked and havent had to touch that motor other than the Pickup Coil and oil changes. 500cc's of alot of FUN and no Turbo needed.I don't think a turbo sled has to be a top dog sled.
