I know you have had a bad experience with your sled and Yamaha not giving you your Spring freebies. I wouldn't blame you one bit if you got rid of them and went back to Doo. I love my Doo's but I will never buy one of their 2 strokes again. They are NOT reliable and I have had too many 2 stroke failures ruin my back pack trips. I think we all need to buy what makes us happy and right now I'm very happy with my Yamaha. Things change and who knows in a year or two I may be back on a Doo or maybe a Poo.The engine is absolute perfection. It's everything around the engine that's going down. For $19,500 plus tax, nothing should break. That's why people pay top dollar for Porsches- they are buying the quality and reliability. I can, and will spend less money and have the same or less problems. I love my 17 Sidewinder LTX when it's running properly and my wife loves her 18 Sidewinder 50th RTX. But if I gotta worry that it will quit on me OR won't start because a relay might freeze up??? Really??? Or the oil reservoir leaks. Etc etc We buy these most expensive sleds in the market to drive them in "cold" weather....

I back you on that lol 75northfaceSo go buy something else. Quit the “winding”.
I ride with a group of 6 SWs and have two of my own. All have been flawless. Wouldn’t ride anything else.
We have two 850s in the group too. Aside from being a really funny looking ditch banger, they’re perfect sleds for watching snow flaps and tail lights.
A lot of people baffle themselves in their own bull$hit and like the attention.
Pick your poison and enjoy the ride.

I agree 100%. I say if you are not happy with what you have then buy something else. What's the big deal? Divorce rates are through the roof. Guys have no problem getting rid of their Wives at the cost of half of what they own but think they are stuck with a snowmobile. So go buy something else. Quit the “winding”.

Watching snow flaps... I like it!
I kinda like this thread, you get a lot of perspectives. Flawless...you may have a different perspective in a year or two, Time will tell.

I can say flawless also but that can change at anytime. So far my Winder hasn't missed a beat. It handles and rides awesome and the engine runs perfect. I hope I don't have the issues some report here but if I do I will deal with them. I like to read about potential problems and in many cases I take action before problems pop up. I know we feel that when we spend all this money on these sleds we should never have problems but that is not the case. Forums like this one and DooTalk have saved me many potential failures and I'm very grateful that we can share all this info.

Finesy, I'm sorry for your lost of confidence in your Sidewinder. Hard to go out for a great ride when the mind is not clear. Snowmobiling in -20° is going to come with some uncertainty.
Note: the extreme cold that we all experienced shut down 2 and 4 strokes across all manufacturers. Relays on skidoo 1200's suffer a similar fate.
I wish I could have jump started the 2 down 800etecs next to me in the parking lot in St. Germain. I tired.
Peace........ Joe
