This is getting old.

Not sure exactly who the dealer is in Maine but I'm guessing it's Woody at Woodys Yamaha in Topsham. He's right off the interstate or give him a call at 729 1177. I'm pretty sure that's the number. Woody races all over and is one of the top dealers in the country. He also is running a demo Sidewinder with I believe a 270 tune in it. Im still stock other than Ulmers clutching and studs and I've seen 126 on the speedo once but didn't have my gps on. Best gps speed was 119 and speedo read 124. I have just under 1300 miles still stock belt. I did swap out the rollers with Ulmers upgraded rollers after the first ride so far clutches are clean with little to no dust and I've run her pretty hard. Hopefully I got one of the good ones. I will say one thing I've noticed is it seems like alot of the ones with clutch issues are the LE spring order models maybe I'm wrong but it seems like that model is having more issues as a whole.

My LTX LE has been flawless. 1100 miles , and only reason i'm not still riding with the original belt , is because I forgot to take the parking brake off , before unloading from the trailer .

Yeah they're the one advertising "power up kits" in Craigslist

my belts are blowing at different times. sometimes only at half throttle
im going to try that belt if I can find it. thanks. I payed for a warranty though and I don't wanna get into weights unless Yamaha totally fails me this summer

Belt # 5 down.

I'm at the end of my rope. Every belt is going differently. 2 have exploded ( 8dn!). 2 have snapped in half and one was caught coming apart.
What am I doing wrong? I've checked the offset. It is in spec, at the limit but in. New rollers , spring jacked to 6-1 but blew belts at 3-3 also.

I'm seriously thinking of trading for an apex. At least I can go and not worry about these damn belts.
SET THE OFFSET AT 61.1mm OR YOUR PROBLEM WILL CONTINUE. Sorry but I've said this many times since last fall. Most sleds need a 2mm shim behind the secondary to achieve this. A little more than 61.1mm is better than any less than 61.1mm. Their spec range doesn't work. The fixed sheave is putting pressure on the outside of the belt until your secondary opens far enough to float, by setting at 61.1mm it floats sooner and has room to operate properly. Also check entire secondary for casting flash not remove and remove.

^^^to this point...cycle belt all the way to the top (most likely spring out is easier if you dont have the right tools)...with belt at top of primary check belts straightness into bottom of secondary (spring removed) ...also...make sure your primary is torqued correctly!

To confirm, its 108lbs initial, then 43lbs secondary torque on the primary?

I agree fully, the last thing I was worried about when buying this sled was blowing belts and or clutch problems. Yamaha clutches have been bulletproof for years and I do mean years, all the way back to my 1984 phaser. Just legendary! It ends HERE, that much I know, wat too many complaints..

As far as a Maine dealer having a fix?
Spoke with dealer wat up North, his comments were, Yamaha needs to figure out their clutch problem on the 2017 Winders.

Other dealer closer to my home claims to have a fix but it involves .070 machine secondary spring pocket deeper, and Machine primary sheaves for overdrive, that is part of his low cost power up kit as advertised on Craigslist. I did not think Yamaha Paid for that though unless something has changed since We spoke 1 month ago. He did not agree with clutch problem though, said only people with tunes are blowing belts. So not sure who you are looking for Steve?? He may have changed his mind with time and rides since.
As we know, not all dealers want to advertise that there first year new turbo models are having any kinds of belt or other problems, but shame on them that say its only boosted sleds having belt problems. My dealer Friend & Friend in Orono,to my knowledge, has sold just two winders, mine and one other, who he said was all stock, and blown 5 belts. And that poor guy has had to pay for all 4 $100 dollar belts. I mean I had a bad belt blower on my one and only procross turbo cats,in 2013,everyone under the aftermarket sun was working on a solution, and some had it figured out, like EVO,who had a TCL delete kit,and that fixed most of it,but wait, even cat stood behind 7 of my 12 belts I broke in half, had twisted around ever orffice you could imagine. So this problem that is very real for stockers as well as boosted sleds on Yamaha,is well Disturbing to say the least, heck if the dealer has just sold a couple of these winders, just give him new belts, till there is a fix,but tell Yamaha, they do have a problem on a few.

And I honestly believe from experience that if the dealer is pressed and communicates with Yamaha the customer will get taken care of but the dealer has to start the process after hearing from the customer.

Go to E-bay right now you can get one or two or whatever you need for $101.00 shipped, that ultimax xs825 sounds like a good choice,i have run ultimax xs belts in the past with good luck.

Absolutely steve,i had a good dealer at the start of my cat season in 13 but that all changed once the good guy who I bought my kitty from, left for another section of there dealer ship down state, once he was solid down there,he washed his hands, and the guy who replaced him, just did not want to make any waves with cat,so now you can see who got screwed,it was not cat!
