Have not replaced shaft yet... Waiting for the riding season to be done then I will start my summer upgrades.Did you put the bigger shaft in?
If its bent get it out before next ride. It gets very ugly when it snaps and could be dangerous. Wish I would have had a warning that mine was going.

Is the RR shaft a direct replacement? Or do you need to mod other parts to make it fit?

the 14 viper I had front skid shock fail twice ...really surprised that my shaft didnt break..shock would fail at around 2300 miles each seasonAll Viper Owners take a look at your front arm cross shaft on your rear skid. Especially if you are riding these sled super aggressively over heavy rutted trail trash. It looks like the shaft is shearing off right at the end of the bolt and the bushing support. It looks as if most of the damage is done to the shaft and the tunnel once it lets go.

The bolt and collar should not be the same length so the stress on the shaft is not in the same place... thats my take on it.

See the skid looks fine.

im not sure ...one unscrewed lost oil the other snapped at top of shaft after oil loss..think in both cases it over heated shock on ruff trails..shocks were good on 16 viper motor not so muchWater in it I bet.

Is there a difference in torque specs on the slider axle from stock to the .765 one ?
Good question. Never thought of that. I assume no since its same dia. Bolt. Will check manual though. Is there a difference in torque specs on the slider axle from stock to the .765 one ?
55 ft lbs and Blue Loctite could not find any different specs in AC or Yamaha Service manual.

I had mine break a couple of weekends ago, replaced it with a high mile used one because it's back ordered here in Canada and that broke again this weekend. Both broke on rough trails and the sled bottomed out a number of times. Was able to ride home slowly both times.
