Viper Cross-Shaft shears...

If its bent get it out before next ride. It gets very ugly when it snaps and could be dangerous. Wish I would have had a warning that mine was going.

I think I'm done riding for the year now.... not looking good with all the 50s and 60s in our forecast.. been a crappy winter

Is the RR shaft a direct replacement? Or do you need to mod other parts to make it fit?

I have found that there is a nice few small differences in the rr/le skid when was working on mine I am glad I got it, I give mine a good going over.

All Viper Owners take a look at your front arm cross shaft on your rear skid. Especially if you are riding these sled super aggressively over heavy rutted trail trash. It looks like the shaft is shearing off right at the end of the bolt and the bushing support. It looks as if most of the damage is done to the shaft and the tunnel once it lets go.

The bolt and collar should not be the same length so the stress on the shaft is not in the same place... thats my take on it.

See the skid looks fine.

the 14 viper I had front skid shock fail twice ...really surprised that my shaft didnt break..shock would fail at around 2300 miles each season

Is there a difference in torque specs on the slider axle from stock to the .765 one ?

Thanks Steve, I could NOT find that spec in my 2015 manual.

I had mine break a couple of weekends ago, replaced it with a high mile used one because it's back ordered here in Canada and that broke again this weekend. Both broke on rough trails and the sled bottomed out a number of times. Was able to ride home slowly both times.
