So true! You would think we would learn but we are a stubborn bunch aren't we? Sometimes we don't give the engineers enough credit for what they do and feel we have a better solution.Dont feel bad. I know I do same thing every new sled I get. They all usually end up very close to stock for the long term haul but it sure is exciting trying to make it better than stock and some things do end up staying on long term. Just not much!
I think the Engineers are usually right but the bean counters get in the way in many cases. So have to be very careful what is chosen. Usually if it involves alot of manual labor and dirty hands to install its worthwhile longterm. People dont get dirty and work hard for nothing! So true! Also engineers are looking for a good all around setup to suit a broad range of rider types. If you happen to fall into that middle of the road rider type then stock probably suits you. If not break out the wallet and clear a spot on the shelf

I was looking at one of my boxes the other day. I have the original reeds from my 1995 ZRT 800 and the original clutch weights, springs and helix. I thought to myself what the hell am I saving this crap for!?Also engineers are looking for a good all around setup to suit a broad range of rider types. LOL...I hear ya...I cleaned my toolbox this fall and finally got rid of all the 90's to early 2000's Polaris weights, helix's, gears, etc, etc... Eventually you just gotta purge...unless you're an obsolete sled part hoarder...lolI was looking at one of my boxes the other day. Just recieved my barn of parts belt adjuster for my sidewinder. Do I put the 4 washers behind the factory spacer or in front? Or does it not matter? Sorry if a dumb question. To change belt do you actually put the screw in and run it in or do you just spin the adjuster nut with the allen wrench in the clamp bolt?

I installed one your adjusters on another members sled. VERY nice piece. Definitely user friendly. I have another brand on my sled. But was impressed with yours. Nice job

Changing a belt on a Yamaha really is so easy a tool is not needed.

Unless you try one of these extreme side pressure springs! Like the Dalton/Cat white.......

True, and I was talking about stock spring moreso.....but even with the b/o its quite easy if you use the 12mm box wrench method.Unless you try one of these extreme side pressure springs! Like the Dalton/Cat white.......
BOP adjuster is super nice for swapping belts though for sure....Travis has a new design out now too, but my aluminum adjuster is working fine w/ my setup to reduce float.

I assume you just use the wrench on one of the nuts and help drive the helix inward? I know the white spring has so much side pressure when you twist the moveable sheave it wants to travel straight and not along the ramp angle and you hit the tower about halfway.

LOL...I am getting old too Don!!
The one thing that makes this thing harder to change a belt is the clutch guard is fixed about 1" over the top of them. Unlike the older Yamaha sleds you could easily remove the guard with the quick release pins and get a better angle over the top to muscle that secondary when swapping/changing belts. I find that it's harder to get a good angle on them.
