On a clear day I think I can understand Yamaha’s next step. My clear day came last spring at a Arctic Cat product show. In the line up was a VK 540 rebadged as a Bear Cat model. Arctic Cat does not needs another Bear Cat unless they want a product for Northern Europe and Russia. But why would they try to go up against Yamaha in Russia with a identical product? The answer to that question was telling.
Sadly I think Yamaha is going to stop selling snowmobiles. With this in mind it makes sense for Yamaha to prop up sales with private label products until they pull the plug. Arctic Cat has been motivated to give Yamaha a good supplier agreement. Yamaha customers are buying and riding Arctic Cats. When Yamaha pulls the plug Arctic Cat will be well positioned to fill the void both here and in now in Russia. The rebadged VK 540 is the last piece of the puzzle.
In my opinion, exit is Yamaha’s next step. I hope I am wrong but I fear not.
I see the same sad bleak future! Then there was three!

You have to remember Cat is already dead they sold out, Textron has there own idea's about the direction they will go, they are keeping the Cat name for now to sell sleds, the atv -utv side are slowly changing over to the stampede line, the sled line will follow or be sold, Yamaha lives!!!Now if I had a dollar for every time I heard that one! There is so much disappointment on this site based on what was coming cause of someone in the know! People cried buckets over what was supposed to come, I was one of them! Now look where we are! I have a very well informed person in the know as well, Yamaha is dead as a sled manufacture and I double dog, no triple dog dare them to prove me wrong!

My main point was there are just people who hate Yanaha. "Snowmobile Bigotry" we'll call it. I remember AC took a beating on some minor issues in mid-2000's and every non-AC guy said how an undependable POS they were. BUT, the DOO had more recalls then all the other 3 combined. Nothing was mentioned in magazines or talked about. When DOO started bragging about their 400 pound XP with 154 HP that was going to use hardly any oil and beat up the Apex, the magazines went crazy calling DOO the best sled ever & the Yellow brigade pumped up their chests. GUESS WHAT? The frames twisted so they were terrible at the track, the frames bent on jumps, oil consumption was the same, piston ring recalls and the Apex still won. And every year they added weight to stiffen up the chassis. NO mention in magazines! Yet my "heavy" old Apex is still together up FRONT with better MPG on cheaper fuel.
My point is, i think Yamaha is the least understood & liked by non-Yamaha enthusiasts.

Most believe either AC or Yamaha will leave when market hits a low & snow doesn't pick back up. That's the general gut feeling we all have.
Then there were 3

Why does Yamaha have to have the whole market? or dominate it? does Mercedes have the whole market? or Hundi As long as they can make or are making a profit all the way around maybe they just will stay.. who wouldn't?

This is spot on! I feel all the magazines that I read seem to talk up the other 3 but never really much on yamahas. Even with the sidewinder coming to light in 2017 there was not a whole said in the magazines. It's always about POO and DOO's all the time. Another thing I noticed when I'm on snowmobile pages on facebook, everyone is trashing Yamahas. Saying they are complete garbage and why would anyone buy one. I just shack my head and say open yours eyes. These light 2's are weak. I have seen many DOO's with twisted frames. I just wish more people would actually sit down and do a little reading on all he brands before they start running there mouths. My main point was there are just people who hate Yanaha. Dang this is depressing! How about going to local grass drags and 2 of 3 winning sleds are Yamaha’s. Or go riding during the week, low snow or cold and the ratio of Yamaha on Trail doubles vs the weekend warrior crowd on other brands. Or how about owning 1 sled vs buddies that had to buy 3 because thier sleds were shot? Maybe I see through blue glasses but I am proud to do so. Thought of Yamaha being gone from snowmobiles is just so depressing. All snowmobiles would suffer cause the makes left would make even more junk. Can’t happen.

You do and most enthusiast do the same regarding their favorite brand.
I lost my blue glasses after owning my 2007 Phazer. It left me stranded and forced me to wrench during winter months more than all my other sleds combined.
From then, I decided not to be brand loyal ever again.

Just wait it out guys see what happens with Textron/Yamaha new OEM Agreement? If no new agreement it will hit the fan for sure in or out for Yamaha. The OEM Agreement is key to what is next for both companies. I have heard 5 and done via Yamaha marketing a few times but imo things have changed since then with low snow winters.

Just a guess but with the new leaning bike out maybe this is in the future. Maybe not an apex though.

Looks to me 2o19 model year but difficult to know these exact date details or extensions. Imo both need to say Mr and Mrs Public this is what is next. Me I'm waiting to hear and we know Apex is done.

The only thing you can think at this point is Textron and Yamaha are in until they say it is done which imo would be a Textron termination if not renewed. Again imo we just have to wait and see .... we will know soon. This what I been saying all along! Are they in or are they out!
