Man, this is almost as confusing as when my wife says she's "fine."

So is it like: Yamaha did not help with the Cat 600 because they were going to share that engine with them blindly?
Or is it: Yamaha did not help Cat build the Ctec 600 because they are building their own new 2 stroke, but will still use the Cat 600 in the meantime...?
I really don’t give 2 piles because I’m never gonna own one anyway.

Why did you feel a need to comment then?
I wont speak for MrSled but he is great at making and running these sites. Why not expand to other makes? I have never seen him riding or owning anything other than a Yamaha though. Me if I had the $ I would buy every new sled my buddies dont have so I could try them. As for Polaris. I do have a big group of buddies on the Polaris's they all are in PA and one here. Axys so the last 800. None blew up. There was some motor issues such as rings at higher miles like 8000mi,Something else top end on one I dont remember. But that stuff is to be expected with a 2st. Once your at the engine its easier to go in than our chaincases! I consider a rod through case or broken piston a Blow up. Havent seen that. Other stuff is normal maintenence on 2st. I do know those guys pound those sleds bad and look for rough days to trail race. They hold up well. I own the 13 Cat 800RR. Its a great sled but I wouldnt want it for Primary sled. I rack up miles to fast and the thing really sucks oil and gas. I used it all day yesterday mostly off trail and ungroomed trail and the gas was flashing at 68mi. I could not do big trips and I wont carry gas but for a small guy like me that sled is just so much easier to throw around than Viper and it does 100mph stock. Wish it were narrow like Polaris and Doo.

I found this is the Yamaha-Motor annual report of 2016.
Unit sales of outboard motors rose; however, unit sales of motorcycles decreased due to the effect of planned distribution inventory reduction. https://global.yamaha-motor.com/ir/annual/annual2016/pdf/2016annual_financial_data_e.pdf
So it seems that similar things has been done before regarding inventory.

Hey I’m with ya CDale, my friends 800 poo is a very well handling sled! I just wish it had more power, after riding my turbo it feels like a 600.
If we had snow 6 months out of the year I would probably own a couple more newer sleds. I can’t really justify what I have right now with these limited seasons.

OK, it must be the daylight saving time change affecting me, I cant see the relation with Yamaha.
I think every sled Manufacturer has alot of very smart people working there. Cat surely can make their own engine. Its the bean counters and possibly a race mentality that can get in the way of building something that lasts like we here expect. Some things just are not possible or predictable. I sure am drawn to AC because of the Race Mentality but I also dont think for minute that their wont be alot of work and failure involved to do that. Still think Yamaha and Cat could be the perfect pair. Real reality and the politics and bean counters get in the way though without fail.

Ya know Arctic Cat can’t even be original had to copy the name Etec~Ctec hoping to steal some of Doo’s success. It will more than likely be a flop.
I have $100 bill that says my Unmodified, carbureted, 1996 F111 600 WW2 tank, will smoke that thing like a cheap cigar.

I think its too late to be a flop; the Ctec 600 has been in production sleds since 2014 and they have sold tons of them. From what I see and read its a very reliable 600 with similar hp has the Doo and Poo. No one is complaining about them.

Just goes to show I know nothing about the new 2 strokes. The only thing I do know is the horsepower numbers must be over inflated because they don’t run anywhere near the old sleds with the same horsepower numbers. I quite buying two strokes when they nixed the triples. If that’s what they are using in the 2015 Cat 6000 they are pooches. Granted it was 30 degrees when I rode it, not impressed.

I agree. My old sxr was 130hp ish. That thing would smoke the new 150hp ish new 800s often. I wish that Yamaha would bring that engine back in a 900cc tripple.

Idk......after riding a turbo or even an 800/850......I don't think you'd expect to come away impressed. That's a tough one.
Once geared down, clutched, right track & set up. They can be fun. That's about it.
The 600 stays on the pipe corner to corner. Little suckers like to take a pounding.
