Well guys, I finally made the 9 second club this weekend. Ran test and tune on Saturday and the air was good, and hookup was not bad either. After a 10.57 pass I ran a get this 10.0000 pass at 128.52mph, ya just can’t get any closer!!! Then we experimented with some different clutching and didn’t see that again that day. Then Sunday we went back to what we knew worked and ran one 10.0019 at 127.85 and a few more close to that with some launching problems, going left or right, just out of practice I think. The first round I dialed a 10.00 and ran a 10.07, opposition red lighted so off I went to the second round. We had a slight cross wind which I think was causing the sled to go left and I had to lean causing some ET loss, so I dialed a 10.04 on the second round and guess what, &^%* red light. Well can’t blame anyone else but me, I wanted to cut a good light, ya can’t be sleeping when you run the ProET class, so when I saw that, I just ran it out the back door and got my 9.9861 at 127.09mph and to me that was as good as a win. The other guy broke out too but not as much as me.
Anyway, thanks to Bob and Jim Manning (BPE/lakercr) who showed up on Sunday with their turbo’d RX1 for some runs and exchanging tips and lending me a few parts to try out. His sled was running very close to mine at the same boost and theirs has a lot more potential than mine as they can crank his boost higher and just needs to get it hooking up a bit better. Once we were out we swapped clutches to see what would happen but never got a chance to do a test pass, we’re hoping to have another shot at it this coming weekend on the season final. I have a few pictures I’ll try and get uploaded later.
