I haven’t seen a driveshaft break off from this issue or even that drive bearing fail. Ever. But I have seen many that have wore. Both Cat and Yamaha. Some that weren’t. Buddies 7000 has no wear with 9000mi. My 800 wore bad and buddies 1100 Turbo. It’s talked about but I think many just ride. It’s not in me to have driveshaft slopping around. Just not right so that’s why it has to be fixed. Some people just fix a issue and forget about it. I believe that’s the case with many. Whether cat or Yamaha. But we are used to a mercedes sled now we have a Ford. Fast wicked suspension and handling but it’s not a Mercedes. You feeling lucky?
My buddies Cat 1100 broke his driveshaft because of the bearing wear a few seasons ago. Snapped the chain too when the driveshaft broke. Right in the middle of a 4 day backpacking trip.
Ouch! I was expecting that but never saw it myself. In that case there will be more.My buddies Cat 1100 broke his driveshaft because of the bearing wear a few seasons ago. Snapped the chain too when the driveshaft broke. Right in the middle of a 4 day backpacking trip.

Thanks Travis..... Received your bearing lock yesterday and installed it today, I ended up loading to 40 ft/lbs.
Perfectly machined counter measure....... Great work!

Anyone thinks this bearing will not fail I got news for you it will. I toasted mine at 7200 miles last year. I caught it with only two ball bearings sitting in pan by brake. So it was just replaced by dealer but I have not picked it up yet. They said as they took the shaft out a few remaining balls fell out. So I’m on my last ride last season I notice a major vibration when getting on the brake slightly. Stopped and checked and sure enough two bearing let loose. I immediately stopped riding and got a plastic sled to put under the track and tow back. Did not want to ruin the housing if the bearing let go completely. Turns out it pretty much did. I don’t pound my brakes a lot as I feel I’m clutched right with good back shift. But if you feel a vibration you better check that bearing on the shaft. Which is not easy out riding but it’s a major indication. At least for me it was. 7200 miles is still good as I did no maintenance on the bearing.

I do have the fix from BOP. Is this thing just installed with the shaft in the sled? Just put it in and install with some grease and lock tight which was posted on here? I’m thinking I need to find out if dealer used some bearing lock on the new shaft and bearing? Are guys using bearing lock and the BOP FIX? Thanks guys.

The Chinese made bearings that are installed by OEM and the replacement dealer installed for you don't help matters any either.
