Barn of Parts Driveshaft Saver....Bearing Lock

Yup dropped the ball. Should be serviced every year. Betting tons of guys do zero with this bearing. Not saying it’s right.

It's the bearing that gets the most crap thrown at it, belt dust, brake dust, snow water, etc... Everytime I pull the seal to repack it, it's full of crud and moisture. Your lucky you felt a vibration and new enough to investigate.

Yea I was just trying to make it through the year. NOT. My lack of attention got me.

NACHI 6009-2NSE9C3.
A quality bearing made in Japan!
Japanese bearings are better IMO. I spent many years working in industries that used hundreds of thousands of precision ball bearings. We always sourced Japanese or German. Not Chinese. Cat probably buys cheapest they can find (= Chinese or India or Indonesia, etc).
When I need a new one for my sled it will be Japanese (Nachi, NSK, Koyo, NTN, NMB to name a few).
Industry standard designation is 6009-2RS C3. Regardless, every year re-grease it and you probably will never have to replace it. Make sure seal behind it (seals the tunnel from the bearing) is good.

Well got me another one!

Yep. Had it apart last fall and re-packed the bearing and peened the shaft. It was not bad at all. 5000kms later it is toast big time. .050 under the bearing diameter. It still has warranty left but I don't trust the dealer with it. I have a new bearing, used axle (600 miles) and a BOP saver. Might go this route or I have to re-assemble it all and throw the skid back in to take it to dealer. Who will likely screw something up and lean snow shovels against my sled (don't ask me how I know this).

Haha. I know the used shaft with your gizmo will work but would be nice to have all new stuff from Yamaha just don't trust anyone around my sled.

Exactly why I took mine to a machine shop myself to have fixed up. Yamaha would not have done anything but order new parts and re-assemble as it was. Sure the BOP wedgy will help in that case but to me that's not enough. Weld and machine, new bearing, BOP Wedgy then it's good.

P. S. Official name should be BOP Wedgy Thing lol

You forgot INO & FAG

:drink:o_O

Travis mentions in his video , that some are getting the shafts warrantied .
If you did , any advice you can offer , as I have been told it is a wear issue not unwarrantable .
