Clutch Offset

clutch setup?
My secondary is 37/42 gray secondary spring wrapped 0/1. D&D set up. I know, I know, nobody running D&D set up but I tried the stock secondary wrapped 3/3 and it sucked compared to this set up. Sled extremely lazy. Tested same day, same conditions and back to back. 37/42 pulls stupid but I believe D&D is now running 35/39.

Before checking your offset, make sure you all are checking to see if your snub shaft pushed in. This has happened with a lot of belt blowers.

Take a mirror and look between the engine and your primary clutch. You should see a visual gap of a 1/16" between the heads of the bolts that hold your snub shaft block on the engine and your primary clutch.

A lot of these are coming in from belt blower Sidewinders and Thunder-Cat. This majorly changes the offset distance.

"The fix" The primary clutch must be removed and the housing block that holds the snub shaft can be removed with a bolt and slide hammer. Once removed, the snub shaft needs to be pressed out, cleaned and re-installed with green loctite, pressing the snub shaft back in. (Note, never rotate clutch clockwise while mounted to engine. It could possibly just timing because of the hydraulic timing chain adjuster.)

The machine is not built correctly at the artic cat factory if it cannot achieve the full range of offset in Yamaha's spec of 58.1 to 61.1.
Take it back to dealer for warranty and tell them you want to set your offset at 58.1 and it won't meet that spec with no shims on shaft.
See what Yamaha says about this.

Maybe someone at the factory is putting a bolt in the stub shaft and hitting it with a hammer driving in inward.............
I tried that asked the dealer to set mine to 58.1 and he told me it's ok at 59.1 the best he could get with no washer behind the secondary (58.1-61.1 is ok with yamaha i guess), 19 srx

Is that a yamaha grey or D&D do you have any specs on it?

It’s in between the cat red/white and the cat green spring.

Slightly less than the EPI purple, could be a good spring for me to try, with the XS belt.

Byam, do you have any pictures after you redid the bearing? Cause I have a .040 gap on mine.

All i can say is that there is no room even for a hair between the bearing and the case after pushing it back.
