How did it accumulate enough ice to close it off like that? Do you think we should be exiting the hose closer to the exhaust outlet so it won't freeze?I just ran mine on some short rides at around 0. Myhose had a solid chunk of ice at the end under the running board, plugged solid. Easy to bend the hose and break the ice to unplug. Will run some high miles in the next few days and see.

He just did short trips from the sounds of things.
When I had my clear plastic hose on prior to switching to the heater hose, you could see the end of it burned and melting a bit just from being in the exhaust stream! Its close enough right where I put it under the running board. And the heater hose is working much better than the clear hose was too.

No, the vent expels all the moisture out you'd expect. Oil temps are always much higher than water temps and there is plenty of flow out the hose to carry the moisture with it. I don't know the oil temp but I could put a temp gun on the tank next time I run it too see. On my turbo cars in the past, I've seen 225-250 oil temps always after a bit of running time. That boils out all moisture out of the oil, if it didn't, you'd see milky oil. It's not a problem.
Last week I decided to check the intake behind the foam air filter (I cleaned excess oil last year) and found quite a bit of milky foamy oil in the tube! Why is this happening? I was surprised how much there was...

I thought there should be plenty of heat exiting the hose down by the right foot. Did you extend the hose a tad below the foot rest Mike? Mine sticks down about 1/2 -3/4 inch.He just did short trips from the sounds of things.

What did the Apex have for a roll over valve and why didn't we have issues with it? I find so many of these issues to be total bull crap. The Apex and Nytro had problems with exhaust donuts. The Apex also had issues with the oil tank cracking and the Nytro had a weak front end. It seems we are always battling some kind of issue with all these sleds and the manufacturers all claim that there is no problem.

Mine riding at minus 21 all day will get a ice chunk on end if you get into powder...but it never closed off. And when you get out on the lake it opens is right up as vapors are hot.
I am abit high on my oil LEVEL after my change recently, so being right at the MAX level now...after a WOT lake run I can see a little bit of oil drips under sled when sitting there after a WOT run.

They say to warm the engine up then turn it off and let it cool to check the level. What they don't tell you is what do they mean by let it cool? How long and how cool?Dan weren’t we supposed to be under the max line and how do you check your oil I’m doing my first one today thanks

The tank says check hot...mine HOT is abit over max line. But in pic below was below when warm only....so I would put less in then run it as see where it ends up before adding more. Its not that critical as you have leeway, i have not had issue.

That's what happens when the factory system dumps the water vapor and oil mist into the intake tract! It all goes into the intake and thru the engine if your lucky. Lots of guys have the lower half of the intercooler fill up with oil and water too.
I thought there should be plenty of heat exiting the hose down by the right foot. Did you extend the hose a tad below the foot rest Mike? Mine sticks down about 1/2 -3/4 inch.
That's where I have mine, about an inch or so below the running board with a little angle cut on it towards the rear. Exhaust actually burned, or I should say discolored the end of my clear hose a bit. Part of the reason I switched over to heater hose.

Apex had no roll over valve.

The only reason I did this was to prevent oil and moisture from entering the intake tract. I had no problems with the rollover valve.
I have oil vapor separators on my race car keeps oil out of the
intercooler. http://www.radiumauto.com/Dual-Catch-Can-Kit-Lotus-2ZZ-GE-P241.aspx
I had no problems for 2600 miles now 78 miles later the new vent tube plugged solid with ice. I lost all the oil, the sled is a oily mess. It shut down due to lack
of oil. 5/8 heater hose routed perfect, end cut at a angle mimicking the old road draft tubes (you young guys look that up). Below zero riding in very powdery conditions,
this is also the first time I had to stop and break ice out of the tunnel. Sounded like it was grinding rocks. Anyways put it back to stock, cleaned it off, put in 2.75 quarts of oil and will run it tomorrow. Looked like it was blowing oil out of the top of the tank. I was doing slow trail riding never went over 50mph, never got over 6000 rpm, never even got into the boost. At least I have my Apex so the trip isn't ruined.

.
Yep exactly but about a inch up inside it was frozen solid.........did a SD30 code and shut off. At least that failsafe worked.

Sure sounds like the 4 stroke solutions rollover valve is the way to go. Got another 2000 mi on mine on Viper and Phazer again this season actually used it twice too. Light roll playing off trail. Sometimes $ is just not something to even be a factor and this issue is one of them. Do it right.
