Mach Z not stock king of the lake.

Well the 998 is only available in one Cat sled now so……. If that is what Yamaha trades for a Cat chassis then Cat isn’t really getting a lot of product from Yamaha.

I doubt Cat leaves the 998. They sell everyone they make.
They also sold every 1000 Triple/Triple they made back in the day and had an 1100 reed valve motor developed. We thought that's what we were going to see in 2003. They then decided to change direction. Companies do that from time to time. Much to the chagrin of their faithful.
The bigger question is how Yamaha sees its future. Will they want to continue partnership with cat, just supply engines to cat, go elsewhere, go it alone, or leave the business since they no longer make sleds. Time will tell. I hope they stay with cat and keep making 998's for them.

I think you underestimate what it means to Cat to have top of the heap product. While a 998 isn't for everyone, it is important to Cat as part of a brand image and it helps them sell everything else. The new Catalyst chassis is 3 model years out from having a competitive 4 stroke of their own (if they go that way) so they need Yamaha even if from a volume perspective its a placeholder for the future. The inverse however is not true.

But just offering in one model currently seems odd. No 141 or touring sled with the 998 seems like a huge market gap for the AC faithful. Yamaha gets the chassis in many more variations.

I agree, but who knows what is driving that decision, maybe Arctic Cat and Yamaha sliced the market up that way..

Yamaha has different variations of the pro cross chassis, Cat does to, but they use their own engines. As Earthling has indicated, they probably set it up that way in regards to the 998. Cat needs a 4 stroke, and they don't have any if they drop the 998.

I was hoping for new Pantera 998. A turbo couch with EPS would be a great combo. Give it 270 stock muffler flash and it would be a great cruiser.

Looks like progress is being made at camp 900r. Chris being a vender, I'm not sure of the accuracy of his gps figures.

Hope they get it to run good. People invest a lot of cash into them. They should be able to get some speed out of it.

Right there with ya. I think we'll see more of these 900r's going fast this year.
And it's just my opinion but once modded (998, 900R, 850Boost, etc.) all bets are off.
Bring what ya got and keep the excuses at home.
