Yamaha Cutting Production for 2019

As long as it is this time of season again and all sorts of "I want them to build this" is being said again. Here is the 2 year old Chris Reid blog to remind everyone what a fragile market these things fall into. I guess be glad for what we have:

Heh, this is a hoot from the Chris's blog:
So, back to the business model: Mr Yamaha, we want to invest XX million dollars in developing a new 850 state-of-the-art, 2-stroke snowmobile engine. We plan to sell 12,000 over three years providing there is no change to emissions regulations under Mrs. Clinton and maybe you can make $200 profit each if we sell more.
Guess things didn't turn out like expected!

Yes I caught that too!

After the less than stellar Cat reveal An SRX with less track...less suspension...and more money....no thanks...oh it's got BNG!!!!....if this is all Yamaha can do ....please stop!!!!!!!!.....Buy cat or call it quits and just supply the motors and be done with it....gonna buy a new sled this year and hate to say it....looking like a PULL-HAIR-#*$&@ Switchback Assault 800....fudge....

I switched to an 850 renegade at the start of the season thinking along the same lines as you, I logged 432kms and sold it...luckily I got my money back and went out and picked up another viper! You’ll be sorry if you do....

18,600 views. It looks like people might be more interested in this beast then some people think.

Doubt it. People of all brands will be curious to see a new release. I still say SRX is catering to very small percentage of buyers. I decent midsize sled would likely sell 10:1 over the SRX.

A ""NEW"" mid size sled from ""YAMAHA""!! Oh come now Travis, that would require two things of Yamaha. Money and commitment, witch we all know they have very little of either one for there sled division! With the winters we've been having and ROI can't say I blame them! I hate to beat a dead horse, but you can now have your Pro-Cross chassis with any engine 2s/4s, clutch, color and either a Cat or Yamaha sno-flap!! They hitched there wagon to Cat and that's it, end of story!!! I expect the 19's to be a mirror image of the Cat line, with the Vector/Ventour coming back just to clear out the part's bin!

We can only hope Textron doesn't get tired of there little snowmobile division, then there would be ""TWO""!!!

What comes after yamaha apex, viper ., Sidewinder is not the solution.
What is next Yamaha on the drawing board? The old chassis from cat does not last long.
Not having new models is a major betrayal to dealers and we customers.
Developments have not been good and they can not only blame for poor profitability
Better they end up than releasing bad outdated models,

What is your opinion?

My guess is that it will be an engine since they seem to have moved on from making sleds. My guess would be a twin cylinder in the 90-110 hp range. Maybe just take the turbo off of the 998. I don't think this new engine will be introduced until Arctic Cat has a new chassis to put it in. I don't think Yamaha feels as though they have a hole in their line-up. Viper is a 600 class trail sled and SW is the next step up. Add in the Phazer, Viking and the 200 SRX and there is your 2019 line-up.

This is the "new" Yamaha which is not Yamaha at all except for the engines IMO. Betrayal to the dealers for sure. Imagine being a Yamaha dealer with a Ski-Doo dealer down the road. The Ski-Doo dealer sells 10 sleds for every Yamaha you sell. Yamaha dealer has very limited accessories to sell while Ski-Doo dealer has a huge accessory catalog. It's sad.

I just had a moment or a nap or something but my thought was maybe Yamaha Knows that the Apex will last 20 years and 50,000 miles (was Yamaha's estimate before it needed rebuild) so they know we are taken care of so now they are looking after the ditch bangers and mountain guys with Cat sleds. Leaving the best new Yamaha Apex replacement sled for the Yamaha Apex riders! So I'm expecting a 2030 release! A further 10 year refinement and then a deal with Ski-Doo and round and round we go! I need a drink!

if you remember when snotrax interviewed big cheese from Yamaha when they first announced their partnership Yamaha said they had new technology in chassi design of their own coming out in a few seasons well this might be it its actually 5 years and everybody has a 5 year plan ?? don,t you
