I think I pretty much have this wrapped up. Need to adjust the holes a little bit on the plate layout. More details later today hopefully after I install it on my sled from start to finish. If it works like I intend it to, install will not require gas tank or driveshaft removal, and the bracket will also have an additional m6 mounting bolt.

Travis, so you are making two now?(one for each side)
I was thinking you would have the bolt tab extend the entire length, and have the 2nd bolt you mentioned up near front, under header shroud.
As you know there is a header shroud bolt that comes down thru tunnel up there already, Maybe that would make sense to use that same spot?
Keep us posted...mines all apart here still waiting....

Looks good Travis. Let us know when they are available. will have my suspension out shortly to do the RR cross shaft and completely go over the skid. Sled has to go to dealer in the meantime for leaking chaincase, tab cracked and leaking.

Yes, junk either way you slice it. I hate dealer having my sled but its warranty. If I do it myself, I don’t mind doing it, but Yamaha won’t get all the claims to accumulate and will do nothing. Well, never mind lol

Everything I do myself, I am sure to submit to my dealer so YAM knows all these issues.....I agree it is good to use warranty although YAM seems to not want to cover many items im finding. Oil tank seep seems to be everywhere though.Yes, junk either way you slice it. I hate dealer having my sled but its warranty. Yes, had 2 ears broken off on my 2014 XF9000 and warranty replaced.
2017 SW with 5 year warranty, they better cover.
2016 Viper (daughters) with more miles than the SW and is out of warranty.

While they gave me a new front shock(leaking) with no issue, they are not liking the side panels(lowers) from sway bar hitting/scratching for warranty...seems like no brainer but dealer been fighting all summer, so far nothing. What kind of things are you finding Dan that Yamaha is balking on??

Ahhhh...got to love the cat build quality. So I attempted to mount a set of guards on my personal sidewinder from start to finish, only to find out the rivets on each side of the mounting hole are in different locations compared to the tunnel I used to make up the prototypes.

Trimmed up the protectors and got them installed. It appears it's anyone's guess as to where the rivets will be, but the modified mounting tab will hopefully provide adequate clearance. Revised drawing to reflect the changes and ordered some more new plate blanks. I was also able to shorten the protector by 1/2" to get the leading edge father away from the contact zone where lugs appear to make contact on protector.
