Did you replace the CVT Phaser sprockets? How many miles on ur truck?I just got done doing a complete timing job on my 3.5 Ecoboost. I think changing reeds will be no problem. Yes I actually had the chaincase cover off yesterday to inspect and give it a good cleaning. Way less parts then my nitro had. The only thing I don't like is the oil tank connected to it but its not the end of the world.

I know you are not asking me, but I did not change those on mine. The only thing really needed is chain and bottom sprocket.Did you replace the CVT Phaser sprockets? How many miles on ur truck?

Fellas, the agreement for sure is not gone! Won't go anywhere for a long time. What I will tell you is, the future will be cat 2 stroke, Yamaha 4 stroke. Same chassis. There will also be a new chassis in the works as well with the same concept.
I dont know about the rest of ya but its time to be happy with what we have and GO RIDE! YeeHaw!

I just don't understand what is not to be happy about it. Rides great, seating is great, looks cool, easy to work on, get descent fuel economy for a sled, overall not that heavy, sounds sweet, the common issues that do fail are easily fixable and cheap. Parts are cheap, used parts are easy to find, belts are cheap in comparison to other brands. Lol I love my viper. Some of these people are nuts.

Fixable and cheap is questionable. Being stranded and having a trip ruined over something that should have been addressed years ago by Arctic Cat will maybe change your tune.
Now that this platform has been out for several years and thanks to fellow TY members especially Travis at BOP, the many issues have been addressed with fixes.
Sleds are triple the price since the year 2000. Paying this much money for a Yamaha snowmobile, or any brand for that matter, I do not expect things of this nature to happen.
You can see it going down hill with everything, the 2015 viper service manual is literally 1/3 the size of the Nytro manual and chuck full of wrong information. Cdale had to send me the Nytro manual so I could properly assemble my motor.
I have no major issues with handling or ergos, it the quality aspects I have a beef with.
I know when Yamaha Brass read these “Happy” posts they feel justified in their decisions to cheapen the brand, that’s why I speak out. Sorry in advance if I hurt your feelings, I hope you don’t feel offended.

I agree with what you are saying but none of that is exclusive to the sled industry. It's the same with the auto industry. Price increases do not mean the quality went up. That being said at least with this great site and the sharing of information from all the great minds that suffer with this snowmobile disease we are able to over come or at least stay on top of the issues these sleds have. Any sled can ruin a trip at any time. My friends (and wife) think I spend way to much time doing unnecessary work on my sled but I will do any thing in my power to not be on the wrong end of the tow rope. Wrenching has always been a part of this sport, if you can't fix this stuff on your own this sport gets expensive in a hurry.

Yep.. its the motors that Yamaha puts in these sleds that make them so attractive, the pro cross while good in its early stage of life with these 4 strokes, but one would think the torque of the 3 cyl turbo would take its toll a lot quicker on a chassis built for a two stroke, if cat would have designed the chassis to fit the 3 cyl and 3cyl turbo and handle the torque for Yamaha but instead they shoe horned the engines in there, while this way may work good, for the big money you pay for a new winder you should have a chassis designed to house it, not jury rigged.

No, all they need to do is upgrade the drive line on the current sleds. The motors are great, the Pro Cross already has great ergo’s and suspension, Design a durable chain case, drive axle and clutches to work with this power level and while you at it put some decent skis on it please!

The Yamaha motors are for sure a marvel. Rode my 900 T around the yard with my prototype MPS kit for the first time yesterday, and that throttle response is terrible. I understand now why rockerdan raises such a fuss over it! The response time of the Skidoo throttle is like going back to dial up internet!

Seems like that would be so easy for SkiDoo to fix.The Yamaha motors are for sure a marvel. You did it right then! If you every have a hard to find coolant leak the fittings for the turbo coolant cooling tubes leak at the turbos and at the block. When you do those you will also what to replace the turbo oil feed lines screens.I replaced everything. Chains, guides, phasers, bottom gear, vvt solenoids, chain tensioner, water pump, belts, plugs and coils, high pressure fuel pump. I did all of this at 148000 miles.
