Excellent. I'm in a hard spot with it. I'm waiting for parts and going up north next week. I'm going to hunt for a gear.Exactly why I tell everyone to replace that bushing, its cheap. Cheaper than the possibility of skipping out of gear and trashing your 2 top gears and ruining your day. Back in 2012/2013 was good for 2500 miles, now its closer to 5000. Super easy to do if you already have cover off chaincase. Bushing can be hard to find separate but you can buy the cheapest 2012 top gear from cat for around $20. Press bushing out and install in your existing gear. There not that tight in there either.

How much are the stock top gears for the Winder? Maybe after 5000 miles instead of just changing the bushing just change the whole gear.Exactly why I tell everyone to replace that bushing, its cheap. At that price why would you even bother changing the bushing? Its not even worth my time.Bought a 22t gear for $15 at Babbitts.

Just change the gear . I ordered a gear from Cat with the oil hole I'm curious to see if it actually has a hole through the bushing.

in the cat gear sintered metal ?
in the past many turbo cats had problems with the sintered when boosted with positive traction....I would care on the big gear but the little>?

Yep, back in 2013 on the trail I blew the top gear at a mear 220hp setting at 3000 miles. Called the local 2 cat dealers where we were staying with no luck on cat replacement. S&S had a set of scott taylor hyvo proto type gears and chain on hand at $600. Bit my lip, bought them and dug into this new complex chaincase at some trail side garage parts shop. Threw the sled on the lift, opened the chaincase cover and the owner stepped back and said, holy jesus, there's my tools, have at it. Hour and half later back on trail to meet my buddies. I put 7000 miles on those gears then, sold sled a few years back and its still running with those same gears and chain.remember all that failed once boosted....not a good area to go cheap IMHO

I highly doubt Borg Warner is making anything but HYVO. I believe those junk gears(Sintered) were back in 12/13 and not sure who made them back then. The 22 top gear many of us are using should be of high quality. The 1702-395 is the one we got last season from cat. And now for '18 they come with oiling hole. And it looks like the part number with oil hole is 1702-491.

2017-2018 9000 4-Stroke Models
Use 15 Wide Borg Warner top sprockets and chain, with a 13 Wide bottom sprocket. The top sprocket has a 33T external spline, but is different than the previous 4-Stroke models- for 2018, an oil hole was added so the chain will force oil into shaft to build an oil film to extend life of the bushing. The bottom sprocket has a 34T internal spline, and is the same as previous models.

Not sure, but I can tell you that the stock gears that came out of my 2016 turbo cat were not hyvo. I pulled them out and sent them to scott taylor upon receiving his gear set and he tested them. The stock AC chain was the only thing hyvo. The rumor was that the 2016 turbo cats came with hyvo Borg warners but the gears were not hyvo.

I have no idea what cat did in 16. But according to their parts fiche, these part numbers below were/are HYVO. Who knows what really came in them though? Cat gave us a ton of junk in 12 which directly contradicted their specs. A true testing of the part is the only real way to know for sure I suppose.
