View attachment 148086 Dismantled my sled yesterday with plans to loctite the bearing. Only 2500 km on the sled and I am too late. Shaft is beyond loctite.
Mine was the same way at 2300 miles. New shaft and bearing under warranty, found it to be .001" slip fit, and still I installed a 1/16" o-ring behind bearing next to inner circlip, a 1/4" setscrew thru the shaft into the bearing and green bearing loctite to hold the bearing from spinning.
I'll find out next fall how it all held up when servicing the machine and re-grease all the bearings again.

I have fixed a few of these axels now , the loctite bearing retaining compound seems to be working well. I made a puller to pull the caliber off. Relatively simple to make.
Make sure you replace the brake rotor also. It normally spins on the bearing after the bearing spins the shaft. If you reuse it , it will be loose as hell.

NOT HurricanneAnyone try the Hurricane shaft? And what makes it better? It allows bearing to be pressed on and prevents spinning on shaft??
Black diamond Xtreme or SSI. They seems to don't care what they sale!!!! Honestly cheap stuff. :-/
Even for money i would not put that crap back on my sled. For the light brake rotor i had problems making it work as it should. My bad.... i had contaminate brake pads from to many fluids and brake cleaner was not enough. I bought new brake pads and it works fine,,,,,NEVER as much brake force than a full rotor. It also eat brake pads pretty fast ~3500km and they are done. Waisted money

Doesn't the rotar slide onto the gear teeth on the shaft? How would the bearing spinning on the shaft affect it?

Because as the bearing spins on the shaft, its also spinning up against the brake disc hub and wearing into it.

I caught mine before it started spinning on shaft. I cleaned everything real good. I put a couple of dimples on shaft, and then assembled using green bearing retainer loctite. I had to press the bearing onto the shaft. However, the brake rotor still seems loose on splines to my liking. I wonder which one is wearing, the shaft or the brake rotor, or both?

So the SSI brake rotor gives less stopping power than the stocker? Also is that broken shaft the SSI shaft?

Ordered driveshaft and rotor on Friday from hurricane.
Byam, what caused this? When/how did it break? Is this the steel driveshaft?
Maybe Dave can provide feedback on behalf of hurricane. Im sure this is not normal or they wouldn't be selling them.
What do you mean as much brake force as full rotor ?

This is SSI or BDX shaft( lightweight ALUMINUM)after 60km..... junk and NO support (~~~~~2000$ dammage) They have refund me the shaft and have made a recall for this after my FREE R&D on the field.... #&$@ THEM.
And now i see HURRICANNE, selling this junk on their website......that's funny, but it's a shame for futur customer :-(

ah ok..The shaft i purchased from Hurricane is Steel. I have no need for one that light.
Hurricane does have aluminum shafts in stock but as I am interested in trail riding reliability, I was advised to procure this one.

Lol. That guy won't give up , the steel shaft is fine and the BDX rotor. I have both and 3000 miles this year on them . I'd buy them again. Aluminum shaft I would not use on a trail sled.

What is your thoughts on stopping powwr vs. stock solid?
