I installed a new shaft last fall with a new bearing and it was a .001" slip fit, added one set screw and was worried about it being off center too, ended up it was not a concern and all ran smooth, but was also a tight fit compared to what I hear some are at .007" and up.

Shouldn't be an issue as long as there is no wear on shaft.
On a worn shaft yes I agree it could cause issues.

I have a new seal and bearing coming for the chaincase while I have it all apart. Any tricks on removing that lower bearing. I have a slide hammer i use for smaller bearings but nothing for that size.

I just got my new driveshaft assembly and bearing today under warranty.
It was slipping at 300 miles already.
Put a better bearing in and peened shaft
Now at 2500 miles i checked and slipping again .
So new stuff came today.

Peening does nothing to hold the bearing, set screw into the bearing appears to hold it.

You don't happen to have a pic of where you installed the set screw?

Why doesn’t some one just come out with a shaft that has the set screw or screws? Most on here will not be able to drill and tap that shaft. I would think two set screws would be better then one. Just my two cents.

The shaft drills surprisingly easy. A high level of mechanical skill is not required. Tap and die sets can be purchased relatively cheap, or just buy one.Why doesn’t some one just come out with a shaft that has the set screw or screws? I get that. Just saying most on here will not do it. I just would think of all the aftermarket stuff for this sled? Someone could do a shaft and make it BETTER.The shaft drills surprisingly easy.
